Solihull Rail Station, 2017
SOLIHULL RAILWAY STATION, 2017
Location: Solihull, West Midlands
Client: Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council
Project Status: Concept
The design for Solihull Railway Station follows a study for the integration and relocation of a new railway station within a proposed mixed-use masterplan along Monkspath Hall Road towards the Touchwood Shopping Centre.
The station utilises an existing railway embankment and carpark on the corner of Monkspath Hall Road and Prince’s Way to reconfigure the connection of transport infrastructure to the town centre and future wider development.
The new station is organised through the integration of a surrounding public realm strategy that continues through the station creating a dual permeable link towards the town centre and future surrounding developments. This is formed by a series of curved retaining walls that consolidate and envelope key rail staff facilities and public amenities within the station site.
