Tapia Cabins, 2019 -
Location: Plymouth, Tobago, Trinidad and Tobago W.I
Client: Private
Project Status: Planning
Tobago is undergoing unprecedented transformation as an emerging tourism market within the Caribbean region.
In a bid to encourage substantial, sustainable growth within the sector, there is increasing demand to explore and cultivate new methods of promoting the island through the celebration of culture, food, hospitality and architecture.
By re-introducing this dynamic combination to the island, there is also opportunity to re-define how and where this is represented within the current climate of tourism on the island.
Inspired by a number of key traditional architectural typologies, the cabins offer a distinct alternative to the existing hospitality accommodation on the island and the Caribbean region.
Conceived as a cluster of semi-autonomous pre-fabricated suites, each cabin occupies a slender footprint elevated by a series of angled columns creating a sense of autonomy and privacy and permitting direct access to the natural wonders of the island.
