Beetham Aquatics Centre, 2014
Location: Port of Spain (East), Trinidad and Tobago
Client: East Port of Spain Development Company
Project Status: Concept/Ongoing
Formed as a central component to the Beetham Housing, Sport and Culture masterplan, the Beetham Aquatics Centre creates new regional water sports arena and is an opportunity to mark the beginning of local regeneration within the city.
The design expresses a new festive typology surrounded by a series of public spaces and promenades connecting local amenities to the centre.
The building acts as a permeable beacon for local communities through a variation of louvered facades and maintains a clear articulation of structural elements that connects the centre to the adjacent athletics arena through an oversailing roof above.
